A genetic test, said to be 77 per cent accurate, has been developed to reveal whether or not you'll make it to 100. Boston University School of Medicine researchers studied the genes of over 1,000 centenarians and compared them with genes from people who were younger than 100. By focusing in on 150 mutations, it provides a strong indication of whether or not you'll make it past the century. There's a clear possibility of commercial tests in the near future, too

I guess, but it wouldn't really tell you how long you'd live afterall i could be hit by a bus tomorrow.

I suppose it might be nice to know if i had the genes to live to 100. Don't think this knowledge would make much difference to my life though.

I think I'd prefer not to know. Being a bit of a pessimist, I don't think I'd live overly long, and I'd be afraid that any test would confirm that.

Im not exactly afraid of death so i really couldnt care less, people can do this and stress out, or do this and feel overly confident, either way, you might get hit by a car in 20 minutes, and it wont predict that.

you want to live longer just stay out of smoking , drinking , drugs , eat lots
of fruite and vegys , walk 30min a day thats all:icon_colors:

Of course not, the not knowing makes life more exciting, who know when i´ll die maybe soon maybe when i´m 112...anyway is fine by me, i´ll just live happily ignorant of the date until it does. Meanwhile i´ll live my life ti the fullest!!! doing what i love.

Well I don't really care as I can get overrun by the car, killed by some stupid people, die by an accident anytime. This means that the number they're gonna tell me will never be really precise, thus unneeded.

Same here. I would rather not know because I would probably end up doing something stupid. Same can be said of how I die. I would rather not know that either.

And it is only by genes, not a warranty that you will live so long.. You can die by so many things than just old age.. *sigh*
Ill just live my life as good as I can and enjoy every moment of it ^^
